The consortium of Open Science Resources is launching a contest for the best educational pathways of the OSR portal. Sixteen pathways in total have been chosen by the consortium to be part of this contest based on the quality of their content. The 8 pathways that are most highly evaluated by the users will be recognized as the best pathways of the OSR portal and their authors will receive a “Best Pathway” certificate.

The “Open Science Resources” summer school aims to offer to teachers from all over Europe the chance to get acquainted with open educational resources repositories and be trained to use existing materials and relevant tools so as to design top quality educational activities that may be easily retrievable and available at anytime from anywhere.

The OSR Portal is the winner of the Award for Learning Contexts of the OPAL Awards 2011 for Quality and Innovation Through Open Educational Practices.
The prize has been awarded during the 2011 edition of the Online Educa Conference which was held recently in Berlin (www.online-educa.com/, 30 November – 2 December).
Eleftheria Tsourlidaki from Elinogermaniki Agogi, Greece. as well as Marzia Mazzonetto, Projects Coordinator at Ecsite, and Claudio Dondi from the Menon Network (both based in Belgium) proudly collected the prize.

Jennifer Palumbo, OSR Project Coordinator, accepted a Silver Award at this year’s Learning Impact Awards in Long Beach, California, USA.

The OSR team is organizing an international contest for the development of educational pathways for teaching science, based on the use of the Inquiry Based Teaching Model.

Grundtvig and Comenius grants are available to attend the summer school “Discover Open Science Resources” which will take place in July 2011 in Crete.

Starting from June 2009, Ecsite will coordinate the EU project OpenScienceResources: Towards the development of a Shared Digital Repository for Formal and Informal Science Education. The aim of the project is to make digital collections in European science museums and science centres easier and more attractive to use in a variety of learning occasions.
